Waste to Wealth

Aspiration

This is a successful story of a transformation of low-value oil palm leaf biomass into a high-quality material, FlavoRich which potentially offers arrays of benefits. The invention may tackle the fatal wound infection issue in many impoverished countries by developing a cheap yet effective wound care products for underprivileged community. The invention may also potentially minimize sustainability issue faced by Malaysian palm oil industry by maximizing the waste utilization with simultaneous development of sustainable technology. This laboratory-based technology may attract potential industrial players or engineers to work together for technology transfer and further development in bigger scale application where in near future it can possibly create a new pool of job opportunities for local community thus boost their social economy. Ultimately, as phytochemists, the technology and its scientific evidence through patent filing and high impact journal publications may contribute to the new knowledge sharing particularly in the drug discovery and product development fields where it can bring immediate benefits to fellow research communities.

Looking for industrial collaboration for commercialization.
